(By Li Zhong-Xuan, Military News Agency, March 23, 2014, TAIPEI) 2014 Taichung “National Defense Mobilization (Wanan No. 37) and Disaster Prevention Drill” will be held on the 26th at Tatu county, sponsored by Municipal jointly with Army Fifth combat zone. The cooperation of public, private institutions handle complex disaster prevention and rescue drill is to verify the disaster prevention mechanism and the response capabilities of local government and national military.

Taichung City Government said that the drill will simulate the compound disasters similar to “921 Earthquake” in urban area how the local government would implement the disaster rescue and post-disaster recovery through regular preparation and the combination of the relief energy from troops, folk and unaffected counties. This is to verify the efficiency of human resources integration of the overall disaster prevention and relief mechanism operation, government and military command for any contingency, and cross support of county and city.

The drill will be implemented a “War Game” on the fifth floor auditorium of Tatu District Office in the morning, pointed out by Taichung City Government. With the act of inferring various conditions might occur in the earthquake within its jurisdiction, relevant participating units demonstrate the disaster response capabilities. Afternoon from 13:30 to 16:00 at the CPC Tatu Wang Tian Supply Center to implement the comprehensive drill such as onsite, real people and real object throughout the practice.
